I guess SanskritFritz just doesn't want to spoil your thread by going off-topic. ;)

Of course he doesn't. He's my friend. I would do that for him any time.

And you are not, Hacker, the same minut you closed that thread.

The threads title looks interesting, so I've read it from the beginning.
With every new post I had new hope for some useful information.

But what kind of sh** is this thread?

You are right. I told them already: keep provoking, but also keep posting useful information. They just don't understand.

clo has something with ThumbnailPrealloc=100000
it works much better now

But in Explorer once I visit the folder it is displayed imediately next time. In TC, it is progressively displayed every time (even with prealoc and explorer method on).

thx clo

From this moment I will stop provoking you folks.

The lesmo has a point, and you took it too seriously. It was ment to be fun, and to be a little experiment to see how would you react... examination of your vanity and your personality.

Nice talking to all of you people.... see you around.

It's the kind that is the lifeblood of that nauseating forum-creature, the troll.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I have a similar problem on the latest version of TCM on Windows 8.1.

Any ideas why are the thumbnails loading slowly one by one while Windows Explorer loads multiple at the same time and plenty faster? Neither CPU nor SSD are nowhere near 100% usage and still, it's very slow.

Thanks. I did that. But still, it's not as fast. Is there a specific size for the thumbnails to make it as fast as the Explorer or some other tweak? :) Thanks

TC uses an OLE compound document (similar to a word .doc file) to store the cached icons. This is usually very fast. But some virus scanners may rescan that file on each access, which can cause big slowdowns. You can try to exclude the thumbnail cache files from the scanner. You can find the location via menu Configuration - Options - Thumbnails.

This is usually very fast.
I wish I could agree but in my opinion it's really slow.

Anyway - if this is the only problem, disabling this cache and using just the OLE2 method would have to be as fast as Explorer.

My suggestion on thumbmail view:

I cannot confirm that, it's almost instantaneous here when using Microsoft Security Essentials.
