New 7-zip. Very impressive compression (better than RAR and ACE):

# Now it's possible to select compression method and dictionary size
# New toolbars
# New Benchmark command

:D Hi!
With what types of files did you test? Generally, I make a "cocktail" of types, it's more realistic...
Maybe I'll test it, but isn't directly launched from TC ( reprove me if I tell a mistake...)?
In the "Pack" box, only DLL-packers can be added actually...
( My God! Extra-jobs again whether Ch. G. adds that!)

 Sorry if I'm late about this subject, I couldn't read the whole Forum texts...
:) Friendly,
Claude

You should use it through Multiarc.

Actually there isn't any significant change in 7za.exe from v.3.11 - Mr. Pavlov even didn't updated it in 3.13 distributive:

__________transmission_from_clipboard____________[/face]

[face=terminal]7-Zip (A) 3.12 Copyright (c) 1999-2003 Igor Pavlov 2003-12-10[/face]

[face=courier]______________end_of_transmission________________

Concerning "better than RAR and ACE" - it depends on the way you set 7z up.

J> # Now it's possible to select compression method and
J> dictionary size

"...and word size in "Add to archive" dialog box." So this "enhancements" doesn't affect 7za.exe functionality ergo are useless for MARC configuration and Commander in general. And it was always possible via command line, actually %).[/face]

Did you read this thread, actually? The link is on the first page. And it definitely is on www.ghisler.com.[/face]

Hi, take a look at TC Help (packer, plugin). Here's a little extract:

Plugins are Total Commander extensions written by ourselves or by third parties. Plugins enhance the functionality of Total Commander. There are 3 fundamental types of plugins:

1. Packer plugins

These are used to unpack specific file types, usually archive formats. Some packer plugins also support the creation of new archives of the supported type, and to modify existing archives. Examples are:
A plugin to
- pack/unpack bzip2 archives, a format similar to the built-in gzip.

- create a list of files in the selected directories. Useful to create catalogs of whole disks
- create a batch file for all selected files, e.g. for repeated batch-copying

How to install a plugin?

Each plugin contains a readme file with instructions. Usually plugins are installed like this: First, unpack the plugin to a directory, e.g. to c:\Totalcmd\Plugins . Then add the plugin to Total Commander:
- Packer plugins via Configuration - Options - Packer - Configure packer extension DLLs
- File system plugins via Configuration - Options - Operation - FS-Plugins
- Lister plugins via Configuration - Options - Edit/View - Configure internal viewer - LS-Plugins

To use 7-zip through TC you'll need to edit the multiarc.ini file (after having installed the multiarc). Download the configuration text (see above: you'll need to decode the configuration), copy and past it into multiarc.ini. Don't forget to change the path to the your 7z.exe.

Good luck!

I'm trying to make auto-extractible 7z, but using the switch -sfx in TC doesn't work. Any idea?

You obtain a *.7z, then simply rename file into *.exe ;)

This works through %S parameter handling. I'd like to get the exe directly from the Alt+F5 window...

It's a known bug, obviously problems with Commander and MARC interaction - you can do nothing with it now. It does create SFX if you pass e.g. "-sfx7zC.sfx" via "%S" parameter, but you have to rename it.[/face]

So in this part of the TC i'm a sh** newbee i don't use it and didn't see how it works.

I've read the whole 7-Zip to TC problem, and i wana know if i'm uderstanding it right.

So if it dosen't work i replace than the contains of 7-ZIP.addon with the one you've posted.
Right now i'm not fully understanding the cmd parameters but i hope i figured it out.

And for what purpouse is the 7.ha compresed file, where i'm gonna use this ?????

I hope it will soon be a simpel way to use the 7-ZIP.

Thanx for your responses.
I love Total Commander
It's a COOOL Manager and Fully configurable
My actual version is v6.52 -changed
