Is there an equivalent in Shell Details plugin to Explorer's "keywords" field?
There should be an equally named field in ShellDetails. It's at the bottom of the list in most cases. If not please post your ShellDetails.ini.

Lefteous - thanks
There isn't an equally named field. I already posted ShellDetails.ini - see previous page

Please rename you ShellDetails.ini and restart TC. Then watch out for the Keywords field and report.

I'm sorry. I have investigated the problem a bit more. it seems to be a small bug in 1.06. It will be corrected in 1.07.

I you click on Properties (from Context menu) and then on "Summary" tab, it contains the following fields (in "Simple Mode"):
Title
Subject
Author
Category
Keywords
Comments

If you click "Advanced Mode" the fields become:
Title
Subject
Category
Keywords
Comments
Source
Author
Revision Number

Both contain field "Keywords" - you're supposed to be able to search by keywords (it's different from "Subject" because a distinctive keyword may not necessarily reflect the overall subject of a document)

ShellDetails only offers columns which the Explorer offers, too. So if Keywords is not visible as a column in Explorer, it won't be in ShellDetails, either.

Yes I know it's meaning in the Property Dialog. The question is: Has the "Keywords" column in Explorer the same meaning?
If I enter values in the "Keywords" fields in the Property Dialog they are not shown in Explorers "Keywords" column.
Does it work for you?

Oh, I see - no, there isn't a "Keywords" column.

So does that mean one cannot search by keywords (Alt-F7 -> Plugins -> Plugin: ShellDetails, Property: Keywords)? I guess there isn't much point then in putting anything in "Keywords" field, if these "keywords" cannot be used to find the file later...

How to show colums for font properties?

Post by *van Dusen »

2Lefteous
First I'd like to thank you for this great plugin :)

I've the following question:
If you're browsing Windows' font directory with WinExplorer, there is a column "Schriftartname" ("Font name" in english, I assume) shown. How can I add an equivalent column to ShellDetail (the INI-File, respectively)? How can I get the keys, which WinExplorer is using for its columns? I've searched the registry for some of the example values you have described in the <readme.htm>, but I didn't find them. Or is the registry only used for properties of "external" programs :? ? Strange to say, but the font file's property dialog doesn't show information about the font name...

Thank you in advance for any hint!

Well it seems as if the only metadata which doesn't work is the Keywords field. It currently looks like a bug in Windows XP for me.

I have tried to implement this but without success so far. The fonts directory seems to be something very special. I will have to do some more research on that.

ShellDetails 1.07 has been released. This is a bugfix only release

History:

Code: Select all

The field type had been detected incorrectly in some cases which led to field detection abortion.
