Cannot delete old network references to directories

Post by *highcloud34 »

Hi!
I am using Total Commander 6.54, WinXP fully updated, home network.

In the network window for my second computer I show several previously shared directories which no longer exist. For example:

[AFTER] <DIR>
[BEFORE] <DIR>
[TO BE PRO] <Pictures to be processed>

The first two items, plus several others, are invalid and I would like to delete them. The third item, with the propoer description, is o.k.

How can I get rid of these entries?

Thanks!

You can simply delete those entries and restert TC. Then they should be disappeared.

No, nope, niente, nein, nix, rien, nem, non, ...
You can bet that I tried this many times... cannot delete the entries. TC doesn't react and continues the impolite way and ignores me! hihi!

Try deleting that folders from "Documents and settings\<username>\Network Neighbourhood".

I don't exactly know if that's what you're trying to delete...

Go to the 'second computer' and delete the references, about the previously shared directories which no longer exist.

Todo:
Right click 'My Computer' an choose 'Manage'.
Click on 'Shared Folders' in the left pane and select 'Shares'.
Now a list pops up about alle the shared folders and drives on the computer.
Right click on a shared folder, in your case called 'after' or' before'.
Choose 'Stop Sharing'.

This should do the trick.
Greetings from Herbie.

Dear Gurus!

I got it! The hint was to delee things on the second machine. I forgot to mention that this is an WinMe oldie beast and there is no "Manage". Searched the registry, found the entries under "LanMan", deleted them and now all o.k.

Thanks again!
