[Bug] Shift+LeftClick sometimes selects too many files

Post by *Flint »

1. Open 2 folder tabs within a single file panel. In one of them (some temp folder, just for testing) create the following files:
1.txt
2.txt
3.txt
4.txt

Place the cursor on the file 2.txt.
2. Make the second folder tab active (no matter which folder is there) and then return to the first tab (2.txt is currently under cursor, of course).
3. Shift+Click on the file 3.txt (do not click on 2.txt before doing this!).
4. TC selects all the files from the beginning to 3.txt, while expected only 2.txt and 3.txt.

TC 6.54a, WinXP SP2 Pro.

Confirmed here too, TC 6.54a, Windows98SE

It selects EVERYTHING from the top of the panel to the clicked file, selecting even the subdirs (very dangerous )

Confirmed. TC6.54a, WXPSP2Pro.
BTW, it doesn't depend on filenames. Confirmed on folders too. If you shiftclick on some entity higher than that under cursor, TC still selects files from the top to the clicked entity.
It also does not depend on entities being already selected.

I could not duplicate this bug sing the sequence of actions provided by Flint.
TC6.54 XP Pro SP2

Perhaps that will help identify the source of the bug?

I can reproduce the bug with all Versions down to 6.0 where TABs were introduced.

With a video---

:) Hello Stefan !

• You can see the handling here with this video.

• I tested too under Win 98SE in my oldie P 166 MMX and TC 6.54a, it works normally.

• Same whether you change the focus using the Tab key, or clicking on the title-bars of the current folders…

• Same whether you select the last file first, then the one above it :
- all other files up to the top stay unselected, as expected.
