[TC 6.54a] Why can parent dir be selected?

Post by *white »

What's the use the parent dir entry in the file list (..) can be selected?

It is deselected automatically when a function is called which can handle multiple selected files. Except for the Search function. You can search the parent dir by selecting it first and then call the search function (Alt+F7). This can be a bit confusing when you select multiple files or dirs and the parent dir and call the search function. Searching with option "Only search in selected directories/files" checked will produce more results than with this option unchecked.

Wouldn't it be better if the parent dir entry could not be selected at all?

Note that using Gray + or Ctrl-A the parent dir entry will not be selected.

This is standard listbox behaviour, and I have to use all kinds of workarounds to unselect it...

OK. What about the possibility of searching the parent dir entry. Is this by design?
