Limit of file types colors.

I noticed that there is a maximum of 100 colored file types. I currently need 142. Call me overkill.. But could a maximum of 1000 be ok?

It is difficult for me to distinguish between more than the basic 48 colors (founded in choose color dialog box)

A picture is different from text. The number of color variations that a human can distinguish of a font are much less.

I don't like decimal ranges on a binary system, because it's inefficient, so, if so, I choose for a maximum of 1024.

I'm using only 8 file type colors. I don't think I can distinguish more than that very fast.

• I agree totally ! Here, I've nine colours, and I use a light background that allows to distinguish more colours than a dark one, IMHO…
- But maybe some users here have Sioux ancestors ?

Well, after a long tweaking orgy, I managed to set 12 different colors that are quite well to recognize at first glance. Perhaps this is possible with a few colors more, but I'm really wondering how to have 100+ colors that are still distinguishable from each other...

But maybe my visual sense lacks some wavelength ranges other pleople can perceive

- In fact, the issue could be solved whether we could set several file-types for the same font- colour according to categories like i.e. :
“Packers_Files” - “Video_Files” etc., that you are bound to do currently using many entries…
- This could save a lot of entries up to the fateful "100" limit

- Except I mistake, this is not possible currently, but IMHO it should be a nice feature (maybe optional), it's worth to be requested !

• Hence, I would suggest you to edit and change a bit your start-message and¦or its title…
- In this way, indeed I support such a request !

I am bringing this thread up again since there IS a limitation in the define color editor. I have redone all the file endings colors like ts4242s suggestion and it works ok. But there is an limitation that one colorfilter can handle. Its about 45 I think. As you can see below I had to make two filters for the image files, as the remaining after "*.lwf" would not function. BTW. I hope people feels free to use my color defenitions.. I wouldn't want anyone else do what I did all over again.. : ) If anyone even would.. Just paste them in the ini and custom the colors of your own taste. Its a pretty well covered list for compressed files/archives, images, media and audio files plus some text formats and exe's and dll's.
