Ann: HTTP SmartBrowserPlugin 1.1 released!

Post by *André Martin »

Hi - I would like to take the opportunity to announce the release of version 1.1 of the HTTP SmartBrowserPlugin.

What's new in version 1.1?
  • * Website cache for faster and offline browsing
    * Ability to set HTTP Referers which allows to download files directly from webspace providers such as Lycos
    * Webpage itself appears in directory listing
    * Full history and Quickview (Ctrl. Q) support for Total Commander 5.51
    * Additional multilanguage support for Catalan, Polish, Hungarian, Danish, Norwegian and Italian
You can download it at:

http://www.acd-group.com/Softwaredevelopment/HTTPPlugin
Browse the web with the HTTP SmartBrowserPlugin
Check your mails with the POP3/SMTP EmailPlugin!

Hi,

thanks for this great plugin :-)
I wonder if it's possible to add Shift-Alt-Enter functionality to it? This way you could check filesizes on demand, regardless of extensions set in config.

What does the short-cut Shift-Alt-Enter stands for?
I know only Alt-Enter (file/folder properties)...

Thanks :-)

Hi André, zbooy is talking about TC's Shortcut [Shift+Alt+Enter],
which displays the size of all subdirectories in the active filepaneel.

Btw, how come, that i don't get to see filesizeinfo for all *.zip-files?
"Retrieve file information only from same server" is unchecked.
Tested this with http://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm.

Thank you very much for v1.1. Great speedimprovement over v1.0. :D

Edit 18.06.03/11:35
Of course, i implemented .zip in the "Retrieve file information of files
with extension"-field:

Code: Select all

ace;cab;exe;rar;zip
While filesizes for most .zip-files show up some are missing, hmmm....

The plugin interface does not support displaying the size of all subdirectories - maybe Christian will add this feature on day :-)

2zbooy
It depends on your bandwidth: If you download something in background then you will retrieve less file information...
To retrieve file date and size means to download the header of the file. Therefore there is a timeout "clause" to prevent endless waits in case of a down or unavailable remote server...

zbooy was'nt asking for sizeinfo of subdirs, but for a toggle to switch display of filesize on/off dynamical.
Since TC uses [Shift+Alt+Enter] for a similar function, he tried to refer to that as an example.

I mentioned the sizedisplay-problem. To verify my observations, today i opened two instances of TC and
logged in to http://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm again. Using Httpsmartbrowser 1.1, logging in one instance
after the other. Again there was no other activity during this going one (i.e. downloads, copy-tasks).
I got same results in both instances everytime, always the same .rar-/.zip-filesizeinfos are missing.

Now, what is causing this?

Exactly. Thanks for clarifying this in my name :-)
André, is this technically possible?

Sorry for my a bit misleading 1st answer: It is of course possible to display the size of all subdirectories but TC does not "ask/call" the plugin for this information on demand so it is technically impossible :-(

zbooy
As I said it depends on the bandwidth and the timeout: I performed the following test: 1.) Just opend the site and I received the directory list with file information of ALL files..
2.) While I was downloaded a file in background I did the same as above but this time the file information of some files was missing...
So this is absolutely normal!

Sorry to hear this. Next TC version maybe? Then again Christian is probably so busy with much more important additions in TC6 :-)

Actually it was deus-ex who had this problem :-)

Ok, thank you. Just wanted to make sure there's no bug or something. :)

Please, let me clarify again:
zbooy asked, if it's possible to switch additional download of filesizeinfo on/off
during use of Httpsmartbrowser, not display of subdirsize.
This way you could save time when download of filesizeinfo takes to long.

and i, deus-ex, reported the filesize-displayproblems, not zbooy.
André, you do get enough sleep, don't you? Or are you lacking some holiday.

Never mind, thank you again for your fine plugin. Wish you all the best. ;)

I have been enlightened :-) Surely this plugin can support it. You just need a special item at the top of the list, just under the [Add to bookmarks]! How about [Show file sizes]? :-)

Yes I didn't get enough sleep because in a few weeks I am going to write a bunch of exams so I spend a lot of my time with studying. Unfortunatily my last exam will be on August, 14th so my "summer vacations" will start very very late this year :-( Btw. I am a computer science student...
As I wrote TC does not support to show filesizeinfo dynamically by default but zbooy's suggested solution would work and is possible to implement :-) I will add it to my ToDo list...
