[BUG] Cannot browse .tgz files

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[BUG] Cannot browse .tgz files

Post by *rolandd »

Hello,

In the new V7 B1, I can no longer browse .tgz files. When I try to browse the file it says: Error, could not load plugin!. The file is packed by TC 6.55. Another file packed with V7 B1, I cannot browse or unpack either. All is working fine with TC 6.55.

I installed V7 B1 over my existing 6.55 installation. The 6.55 installation I am testing from is on my USB stick.

Running:
Win XP Home SP2

Regards,

You have the same problem as some other user here: You probably installed TC7 beta to a new directory, and the plugins you use are installed via %commander_path%. Therefore TC can only find these plugins if you copy them to the TC7 beta directory (or a subdirectory) too!

The V7 B1 is installed right over the old 6.55 installation. Registration stayed preserved, all other plugins are working. Is tgz support done via a plugin?

Is there anything I can check without haviing to reinstall?

Please post your [PackerPlugins] section from your wincmd.ini here. To open your wincmd.ini, please choose the following menu option: Configuration - Change settings files directly.

tgz should be handled by internal tar.gz unpacker. Maybe it's not really a tar.gz file, but a badly named tar.z or tar.bz file?

Ok, removed the targzbz2 packer plugin and all works fine now. It seems that the plugin is not compatible with V7.

All is fine now. Thanks for that :)
