Serious directory/file rename bug

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Serious directory/file rename bug

Post by *D1P »

This bug has been reported on russian TC forum.

1. Make any dir in any location (e.g. c:\test).
2. Rename it to "dirname /" ("c:\test /").
3. Try to rename this dir - you will get error message.
4. Try to copy something to this dir - new dir named like "dirname" (i.e. without " /") will be appeared.
5. Try to copy something again into this dir - all files will be copied into "dirname" directory.
6. Run Explorer, and try to rename/delete this directory - you will get error messages. But under TC you can delete this dir.

also...
you can rename any file to "filename.ext /" and get same errors! So, it is very serious bug, i think.

Windows doesn't like directories which end with a space. If you trick it into creating such a dir anyway, then all kinds of problems will arrise. So simply do not do it! I will not prevent people who know what they are doing from creating such folders.
