FTP - not fully copied files

Post by *djk »

I've a problem with FTP.

For several months (surely in TC7 - I can't remember if it happened also in earlier versions) when I upload files it SOMETIMES happens that the file is uploaded not completely. For example I send a file of 776 197 bytes and TC copies only 766 660 or 768 000 bytes. There is of course no error messages so I must check it every time if it's fully copied.
I can retry copying but it doesn't help, the amount of bytes changes but the file is never copied properly.
When I restart TC it copies the files correctly at once.

It's not a problem of the quality of connection.
First I'd thought that it happens when I first connect to one server and then try to send files to another server but tit happens even if it's my first connection.

Unfortunately it doesn't happen always (but enough often to be annoying).

My wcx_ftp.ini settings:

[General]
ConnectRetries=50
WaitDelay=5
transfermode=X
LogFile=%COMMANDER_PATH%\tcftp.log
FtpInBackground=1
e-mail=a
ModeZ=0
ASCII=*.txt *.htm *.html *.pas *.c *.cpp *.h *.bas *.tex
ttciniwritable=79855
AutoResume=30
MDTM=3
UploadBlockSize=32768

[MY SERWER]
host=myserwer.adres
username=me
password=XYXYXYXYXYYXYXY
pasvmode=1

Any ideas? Does it happen to anyone else?

What if you try to upload the same file in Binary mode instead of autodetect?

Well, I haven't tried it. Autodetection used to work correctly in my case since "always" ;-) so I've almost forgotten about the possibility of changing it. I will try.

Anyway, after restarting TC it works correctly.

No problem here with dozens of different ftp servers! Can you give me a test account on the problematic server, please?

Any news on that? TC always waits for the "transfer complete" notification from the server before sending the next file...

Christian, sorry for the lack of information. Unfortunately I was very busy lately, mostly out of home and office. Anyway the problem still exists (TC RC5) but I didn't get an answer from admin of the server. I will try to ask again for it.

TC 7.02 is now verifying the upload and download sizes via the SIZE command. Can you try with your server whether it detects incomplete downloads now, please?

Of course I will try.
Since yesterday I've had no problems with upload, but as you know it didn't happened every time. So I think during next a few days I will be able to confirm if it works ok.

It happened again but this time I've got the warning that the size mismatch and TC asked if I want to continue. As before resending didn't help until I restarted TC.

So the problem still exists but now I know that the target file is wrong so I know I must restart TC and resend the files.

Thanks for the changes.
