[Solved] Search with F3 key triggers windows default sound

Post by *jvh »

1. Press F3 key on text file
2. Press F3 key again to invoke Lister Search dialog
- windows default sound ("ding") is played
- no sound if F7 or Ctrl+F key is used
- the same behaviour has F3 key in "Compare By Content" window
- setting "Only play for for long operation" doesn't suppress sound

This problem seems to be in all TC's versions.

jvh,
It's because F3 means "Find next" and if you didn't enter any search string to find, "Find next" cannot work of course, thus it dings and allows you to enter a search string.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

You are right, I didn't realize that.
Problem solved, probably time to move it here.
