Encryption lost: I go back to 2006 version

Post by *Hammillian7 »

I've just tried 2.0 version, but haven't been able to activate encryption neither on the TC menu, nor in the SQX configuration.

So, I go back to the previous 2006 version:

TotalSQX.wcx 07/05/06
SQX20.DLL 20/04/06

Thanks, anyway, for the development effort.

Maybe you overwrote an old installation instead of overinstalled. You could give it a next chance and next time you use the autoinstaller (or deinstall the old installation before). AFAIR the reason is that the feature number needs an update.

The current install string looks like
wincmd.ini wrote:sqx=607,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\TotalSQX\TotalSQX.wcx

Now it doesn't unpack selfunpackers

Thanks, Theosdikaios:

You're right: after autoinstalation, it already offers "Encypt" on the TC dialog (even with solid archives selected, in spite of what I've read before), accepts passwords (more comfortably than inside Configuration) and seems to work OK.

But now, instead of offering 128 / 256 bit encryption, it offers 128 bits / Confirm (in the spanish languaje), whose meaning I don't know.

Thanks again.

Jose.

The spanish language file needs an update too. English language file should be a good pattern.

Today I want to give you an update on how TotalSQX is doing on TC 64 bit. Unfortunately it doesn't work at all. TotalSQX is based on the SQX library (http://www.sqx-archiver.de/). There seems to be a bug in in the x64 version which means I cannot provide a 64 fit version of TotalSQX.

I have contacted the author of the SQX-SDK and hope he provides an updates version of the SQX library.

If you want to support the development of a 64 bit version please leave a comment on the SQX library author's blog:

The author of the SQX-SDK has published a new version which seems to work fine at first glance.

I'm actually working on bit. It compiles - but so far it doesn't work. I have to make many changes and fixes to the code. It has already been much work compared to other plugins.

Excuse me being impatient. :o :?
Does the implementation makes progress?

Yes it does. I think I can release a first version soon -with a few known issues.

Finally I have managed to release a new version. The key feature of the new version is of course 64 bit support. I have also enabled background packing and unpacking. I had to convert the plugin to Unicode in order enable 64 bit support. This will help in future versions for more Unicode support.

A big thanks to Sven Ritter and Christian Ghisler for their great support and all users who waited patiently.

Please make sure you have deleted your old Total SQX installation folder prior to installing the new version! The old configuration file can be used without problems.

Also many thanks!
one thing to consider, though: I am using Windows 7 64bit, and I can't create sfx archive with 32 bit extractor, with the message that "this system lacks the support for the SFX type you have selected."
Is there any way I can do that? I am usually creating sfx software archives for using in our little company, and 32 bit support is mandatory.
