Total commander crashing while displaying right click menu

Post by *mirkokg »

OK here is my problem. When right clicking on any file Total commander crashes, after third or fourth right click, while displaying a right click menu.

This is an error it displays:

I'm having the same problem with total commander stable version. I suspect that the cause of the issue is a strange option which was suddenly added to my right click menu:

Thanks,

I disabled all of the entries I don't use and that fixed the problem.

I hope this could be fixed also in total commander to avoid similar problems in the future.

Regards,
Mirko

:) Hello !

• TC can't prevent other programmes to install crappy shell extensions… :(

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Not to prevent installation, to prevent tc from crashing from those extensions.

To catch the exception or what else is needed to prevent the crash...

I even wasn't totally aware of the crashing reason, only TC was influenced, other programs worked normally, so it looks like bug to me.

Like we say in Serbian: "Bolje spreciti nego leciti" (It is better to prevent than to cure). :D

I dont know if its possible, but if the exception could be caught and Tc would give an error message like:
"Probably one of the shell extensions caused an error. Try disable them"

This would prevent many users from posting such posts as this.

TC does try to catch the exception when the menu is created. Unfortunately it's often not possible to catch it once the menu is shown. :(
