That's exactly what I want to do.

I think it isn't possible to use standard system icons by now?

It's still impossible and I think the same will happen in 7.5, 8.x, 500 ;)

The only way of getting rid of that is to use your own icon library for TC (with "yellow package" icon replaced).

In the next version (7.5) there is internal file association added.
I can imagine that that also makes custom icons possible?

Currently: no. TC overwrites association icon in certain cases and this seems to be one of them. JFYI the other case I know is hidden / system files. I already asked Christian to change this behaviour.

Yup...
Sorry I had to try it for myself :)

You can change the icon for most off the files with:

[Associations]
Filter1=*.<extention>
Filter1.icon=<icon path><icon file>,<icon number>

Exept for (what I have tested) the archive icons.
:?

Except for all internal icons. :?

I wanted Vista-like content dependent folder icons (though more readable than in Vista).
Different archive icons
No exclamation icon for hidden / system files (but filetype-dependent ones instead)

The associations system lets us define rules for all of them, but TC just overwrites them. :?

As I said, I asked for it already on the beta forum. You're welcome to make a request here.

Support for "override archive icons (etc.) by internal associations".

If a user defines associations this should have priority over buildin icons.
Please.

Yes, Yes. Support ++++

I want to use different Icons for compressed Files.
I use this Icons http://lib.sparanoid.com/7z-icon-2_all.png in the Explorer.
But in the TC cannot use this. :cry: :cry: :cry:

Make to use the internal Icons from the Totalcmd.exe oder icl Files optional!

Use an IconEditor, like IconShop or GreenFish (if you need Vista compatible)

Then:
1. Extract the icons from TotalCMD.exe
2. Replace Icons 8 and 9 with the Archive Icons you prefer.
3. Save as TcIcoLib.icl
4. Edit wincmd.ini
5. Below the header [configuration], add the line
IconLib=%Commander_%Path%\TcIcoLib.icl
(Or wherever you put the icon library)
Note: The icons in the newly created ICL need to be in the same order as they are in totalcmd.exe.

I see, this wont let you use specific icons for separate types of archives.

Support++ for InternalAssociations overriding Defaults.
Though I believe this has been requested before? I don't recall why it was denied.

I don't need other icons, but I support the desire, that some custom associations may not be overwritten by TC.

Yes and this make my unhappy and sad.

The Tc don't need more internal Icons.
It must only support the 'Systemicons'! FreeCommander and Speedcommander supports this!

"Changing the packer icon's" has been requested over and over on this forum.
The new "internal associations" function is an solution for this.

Why would you "cripple" this function by overriding it for some extentions?

Can we please get an official statement from the Author?
