Quick search filter - make permanent

Post by *titanium »

I really like the new filter feature for the quick search.

I want to always use it by default (without the need to press ctrl+s).

The ctrl+s is preserved during a tc session but it not preserved after a restart.

Suggest making the filter on/off option be saved across restarts.

IIRC it's been requested during priivate testing too.

In the meanwhile you can use Ctrl+Shift+S.

You can use custom filter Show> Custom... this filter is loaded when TC starts

Quick search filter (Ctrl+S) is meant as a quick, dynamic way to do the same as Show -> Custom. It's not meant as a permanent filter. You can still use Show -> Custom for that.

Thank you all for the replies.

However, I think that I was misunderstood.

I'm familiar with the Show -> Custom operation and this is not what I want.

This is not relevant because what I need to do is a quick search.

My request is much much simpler.

Currently (as I see it) there are two types of quick search:

1. The old quick search which only jumps to the searched file.
2. The new quick search that also filters non-relevant results.

I only like to use the second (new) mode of operation. I don't like the old style.

For that I need to press Ctrl+S once each time I start TC. I just wish I didn't have to do so (press Ctrl+S) since I never use the old quick search.

It might sound a little bit picky but I think it will be useful.

Thanks

Sounds like a good idea for a new option!

I support titanium’s idea.

It’d be nice to have new internal command cm_ShowQuickSearchFilter analogical to cm_ShowQuickSearch.
Default shortcut (Ctrl+S) has been used for other function in my configuration for many years.

Or a manual setting in the ini to make it work with the filter on or off.

ghisler, this is an excellent step towards searching. I hope you'll be able to encorporate the "Everything" type search though.
