7.50 BETA 2 - crash on context menu in a file panel.

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

7.50 BETA 2 - crash on context menu in a file panel.

Post by *squeeze69 »

How do I include a video? :-?

Step)Action
1) right click on a file - long right click for my settings.
2) view the context menu, select somthing like: "send to" and wait for the other submenu
3) change idea. Click on every file in the list with the LEFT mouse key.

BOOM
- Tested many times -
Jaw Dropped. Seeing TC exploding is such a rare event.

Platform: XP PRO SP2 - patched. (32 bit)
AV: Avg 8.5 freeware
Other apps extending the shell context menu: 7-zip 4.65
GIT, TortoiseSVN and so on.
No problems with the same apps under Total Commander 7.04a
The same context menus works under the never used Explorer.

Greetings, Marco.

Can not reproduce that behavior. But maybe the description is not clear enough for me. Do you really mean 'click on every file'? Or do you mean 'click on any file'?
Tried both, but can not confirm.

Cannot confirm either.
Try to disable the contextmenu entrys. (for example with ShellExView)
How do I include a video? Confused
Just upload to YouTube and post the link.

Sorry for my English ))

It seems to me that I have the same problem... Total Commander 7.5b2 (actually, all versions from 7.04a) crashes in the following scenario: some of system functions are used. What do I mean: when in options is set "Use Explorer delete method" from time to time commander crashes. Also, when I'm using Ctrl+X to cut the file, the same crash happens...

Here is the info that Windows Vista SP1 RUS (all available updates are installed) reports:

Do you use O&O defrag? Recently many people with that tool have reported this error.

A little bit late, sorry.

Right Click on ANY file until che context menu pops up - I have set short right click for file's selection.

Due to forum's rules I have to wait 24 hours to post the video. Sorry.

Just like Samuel said:
Try to disable the contextmenu entrys. (for example with ShellExView)
Have a look at right click (context menu) crashes TC

The same happens with some other buggy shell extensions.
They do work with Windows explorer, but are crashing with other programs ...

Fairly similar, but: I didn't have this failure with 7.04a, and I've got no updates to shell extensions since testing 7.5betas. :) Also: the conditions expressed in the post aren't met at all. And if I use right-click again there is no crash.

BTW I'll try to disable extensions BUT send-to.

Update

Post by *squeeze69 »

I disabled the WMP 11 shell extensions - the bug disappeared.
The interesting thing is: I RE-ENABLED them.....the problem is still missing.

Actually I disabled them - forever - WMP is such a crap... what about a Total Media Player? :-)

But: with 7.04a the explosion didn't show up.

And I have uninstalled O&O Defrag and O&O Clever Cache... And the problem disappeared!

I'm happy)) Not because of uninstalling, no! Because now we know the reason!

It sometimes happens that the registry gets corrupted, causing this context menu crash. If you have a backup of the registry (e.g. reg file), it would be great if you compare the state before and after the fix...

Righ-Click COntext Menu Crashes

Post by *CWBillow »

Whenever I right-click a folder, it remains non-responsive for as much as 60 seconds; if I try to escape out it crashes.

This is running on Windows 7 RC

CWBillow,
Whenever I right-click a folder, it remains non-responsive for as much as 60 seconds; if I try to escape out it crashes.
And which context menu shell extension is causing this?

Roman
Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
