7.5B6: Compare by content uses only one argument (file)

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

7.5B6: Compare by content uses only one argument (file)

Post by *BL »

In TotalCMD 7.5B6 the "Compare by content" uses only the file from the current (active) filelist and ignores whatever you've selected in the other filelist (you have to add that manually before being able to compare).

OS: Vista 64 SP2.

Welcomoe to the forum!

I can't confirm this behaviour, everything works as expected here. Could you please describe what exactly you did? Then others can try to reproduce this.

You have to select the two files. (press space on it so they get red.)
I think you just put your cursor above the files.

This may indeed be the case.
You have to select the two files. (press space on it so they get red.)
Just a little addition: It suffices to select the file in the target/inactive panel. Then this selectd file is compared with the file under the cursor in the active panel (if no file is selected there).

What I did was trying to compare two files and I marked both with space and then selected the "Compare by content". The viewer then came up with only a file in one side and the other one blank.

I tried again 3 times with the same result (that I had to manually select the second file).

Then I closed TC and started it again and tried again, but this time it worked as expected with both files compared with differences highlighted.

Sorry for my late reply, had to come home from the movies first :-)
