Windows 7: TC file panel is not refreshed after copy&pas

Post by *Samuel »

If I copy (ctrl+c & ctrl+v) something from Desktop or explorer to TC, the file panel is not properly refreshed. (Windows 7)

I cannot currently test that, but I didn't encounter any such problem when testing on Windows 7. Please check your settings in Configuration - Options - Refresh.

Update: Sometimes it gets updated. (But many times its not refreshed)
Remark: The "size-left-on-drive-value" seems to update correctly.
TC 7.5 final has the same problem.

TC refreshes its list after Ctrl+V under these conditions:
1. When a copy progress dialog steals the focus from TC
2. Half a second after the call returns

If the copying takes longer AND there is no progress dialog, you may not get a refresh.

There is no copy progress shown.

Perhaps 0.5 seconds is to few for win7 here. What about checking 3 times if there was a file added. (after 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 seconds)
The first time when a file was added stop this refresh.

I will consider it. Btw, do you get a refresh when you use "paste" via right click menu (on the current dir) instead?

I can reproduce it almost every time.
I wonder if no one else with win 7 can confirm it.

Could it be that copying on Windows 7 has become SLOWER? I thought that the system was supposed to be faster...

It could be. Perhaps it's also my "lahme Möhre". ;-)

Could you say me how to test it?

Did you change something in TC 7.5a (private beta release)?
I cant reproduce the missing refresh right now. (But I can still reproduce it with TC 7.5 final) There is no line about it in the history.

I am not sure but IIRC today in the evening the refresh in TC 7.5a (private beta release) didn't work.
I will keep an eye on it.

Edit: I can reproduce it again.

No, I'm not aware of any changes. I tried to reproduce the problem on Windows 7, but failed. :(
I can reproduce it again.
Any ideas when it occurs and when it doesn't? Was your system overloaded with other operations when you had the problem?

No it isnt overloaded.

I could reproduce it with a file of 4 KB
I could reproduce it with a file of 4 MB
I could reproduce it with a file of 25 MB
I could not reproduce it with a file of 140 MB

It seems to be easier to reproduce with smaller files.
It seems also to be easier to reproduce with desktop and folder in TC on the same partition.
I can reproduce it better when I try to copy and paste the same file several times.

Could be that Windows 7 has some kind of a caching system.

What kind of drive is that? A local harddisk? A network drive? USB stick? I don't get the problem with any of these sizes. :(
