Has anyone had any problems getting this plugin to work on W7 64bit? I am running the latest TC and everytime i quickview a media file with this plugin it freezes TC and i have to kill it and restart.

It says Connecting... in the media player and then freezes. Seems to be happening on any media file. I also copied msflxgrd.ocx to my system32 folder and registered it with "regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx" which didnt work.

Anyone have any ideas?? Or perhaps the best alternative plugin?

thx

I have just tested it on Windows 7 x64 German:
1. Download mmedia 2.4.6 from www.totalcmd.net
2. Install by double clicking the zip
3. View a file - let the plugin download the requested OCX
4. Unzip to Totalcmd directory (not plugin dir!)

I could successfully view files with F3 and Ctrl+Q. I tried the following types:
.mp3
.mp2
.avi
.mpg
.m3u

Note that some plugins do not work when installed to a directory where you don't have write rights, e.g. under "c:\program files(x86)". Make sure you install to a directory where you have write rights (c:\totalcmd\plugins\... is OK). If you don't have write right, the install process will ask about admin rights.

For some reason reinstalling the plugin seemed to do the trick.

Thx!

Hi

Please, could you give it a try, I released a version of mmedia.wlx for TC8 x64 .
Some functions doesn't work yet like :
- interface 6.4
- frame tab for ID3tagv2 (msflxgrd.ocx doesn't exist for Win64)
but all others are functional.

two versions was compiled :
- a dynamically linked with MFC : download (115Ko)
- a statically linked one : download (300Ko)

What is the difference in practical use between the two versions ?

the dynamically linked version of mmedia has a small size, but if you want to use it, you need the corresponding redistributable pack (MFC90) from microsoft. There is a good chance they are already installed.
try first to install this version, if TCmd doesn't accept to load it, the MFC libraries aren't installed, use then the statically linked version.

Thanks - so for a portable solution it would be safer to use the statically linked version, I guess?

Would it be possible to have the plugin look for mmedia.ini and msflxgrd.ocx in its own installation directory before looking in wincmd.ini dir / system32 dir.

If that is not possible - then where should msflxgrd.ocx be copied to on a Win 7 x64 system - system32 (Sysnative) or SysWOW64 - I guess the latter.

for mmedia it's the case.
for msflxgrd.ocx, It should have happened but I found a bug I corrected now. however the use of this library is no longer valid in x64 version of TC8.

yes but you should register it manually (regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx) with administrator privileges (use "run as administrator")

Are you sure?

If I move mmedia.ini from %COMMANDER_PATH% where I have my wincmd.ini (UseIniInProgramDir=7) to %COMMANDER_PATH%\plugins\wlx\mmedia\ - close down TC (8.0b7 x64) and reopen TC and use the plugin then it just writes a new mmedia.ini in %COMMANDER_PATH% and uses default settings again.

I have full rights to %COMMANDER_PATH%\plugins\wlx\mmedia\

I'm testing with the x86 version, and it works, but I guess that the x64 doesn't. I will correct this.
