WM 6.5.1

Post by *the_ape »

Just a quick question, any ideas if there will be a version that will work nicely with the new WM6.5.1 start / ok /close on the bottom layout?

I know it's a bit of an ask, as WM6.5 isn't even out yet, and the current versions work fine(ish) just wondering?

Thanks

I haven't heared about a version with start / ok /close on the bottom yet. I will try to support it once Microsoft offers an emulator for it. There is one for 6.5 on their web site (which I'm using right now for testing), but I haven't seen any for 6.51 yet.

It's WM 6.5 build 23024 and later.
We are not so S.M.A.R.T. as we imagine...

Sorry, but I cannot help you if i cannot test it. There are no devices, no emulator images and not even inofficial ROMs...

yeah, I know, I'm testing it on a real device using a rom from XDA-Developers, non official of course. This version of WM is not the one we will see in the released devices this fall but for the ones released next year.

The problem basically lies in the fact that, current version of TCP uses the interface style from PRE-WM5.0 versions... that means, no softkey support.

So the solution could be as simple as upgrading the design to follow Microsoft guidelines.

Unfortunately that would mean just two buttons, as you can see in the smartphone version, and no more toolbar. :(

nono, you can combine softkeys + toolbars (just put them up the softkeys).

Resco Explorer is an example of this, right now there's some problems because as the softkey bar is bigger, the toolbar gets cut, but that's expected to be fixed on a newer WM build or and updated application build :)

get the same here on a build 23409
I put a capture of my PDA screen
Image: http://physio-a.univ-tours.fr/tcplugins/capscr.jpg

see the softkeyBar, much higher than the oldest :
- the place for icons is larger and some are hidden.
- the second toolbar is partially masked
- the "ctl" button was unreachable, and we cannot select multiple files (not in menu)

Try using the Smartphone version instead.

ok, I didn't know smartphone apps worked on pocketpc's.

but yes, smartphone version is usable, softkeys blend nicely with the new bottom bar :)

now, we just need a bigger address bar (more finger friendly) and maybe a toolbar with some quick access icons on top of the bottom bar.

smartphone version behavior is good but functionality is less than PPC version

Christian, on my capture screen, you can see that only 2 buttons are available on the softkey bar near the menu.
could you just used one button to show the toolbar, the other for a multiple selection and deport all others to the toolbar, please

Yes, I will do that. But how do I get the height of the new task bar, to show the subbar at the right location? Is there ANY documentation for WM 6.51, ANYWHERE?

WM 6.51 compatibility

Post by *ijskast »

Hi is it "possible" to release a BETA version where the program starts in full screen mode and is not dependant of the applied today theme?

When testing different today themes i noticed that WM6.5.1 uses themes to make the WMshell more finger friendly. This results in larger spacing for almost anything (Buttons, drop down boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, sliders etc) and it renders the toolbar quite useless because the buttons are no longer the default size.

The outcome should be somewhat similar to the Windows XP compatibility option "do not use theme"

As for the SmartPhone version. It works ok but still has an issue where the last entry in a folder cannot be seen because its hiding under the taskbar.

I hope we find a solution.

Kind regards Geert

To my knowledge, it's not possible to turn of theming separately per program. I only I knew how to measure the hight of the toolbar, then I could show my additional bar in the right place...
