About wincmd.ini coding

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

About wincmd.ini coding

Post by *sddg »

hello,

My system is Windows 7 ultimate 64bits, my language is Japanese,
but I use Chinese Traditional in my DIR menu, when I directly edit my wincmd.ini and save, my DIR menu's Chinese Traditional become garbled.

I use Emeditor to open it, it tell me to select coding, but when I use JIS, Japanese is OK, but Chinese is garbled, and when I use BIG5 to open it, it's all garbled.

And it's not only in DIR menu, it also happen in DIR history, but not every Chinese were garbled, please help me to solve this question :)

You must save file in Unicode encoding.
Close your TC, open INI file with EmEditor, select Save As and choose UTF-16 LE with Signature encoding (it is the same as Unicode in Notepad).
After this operation you may use any characters in any menus.
