Can't send unpacker window to background

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Can't send unpacker window to background

Post by *avada »

If multiple archives are selected the button to send the window to the background does not apper. But if I unpack them one by one it appears.

This depends mainly on the kind of archive.
Which archives are you using (zip, rar, ...)?

I tried with rar's and zip's. The point is that if I unpack more than one I can't put it in the background, but I can do that if I unpack the same ones one at a time.

Got it now :)

It's not a bug but a feature (since 7.50)
Have a look at v7.5 issue in archive extraction with external extractor

Sorry, this is not supported because Total Commander doesn't know at the beginning of the operation whether all the files are really zip or rar files. For example, they could be renamed 7zip files. TC would have to look into all of them first, which can take a LOT of time with some virus scanners.

Oh, OK then I understand. Then I'm just curious why couldn't all unpacking be made to run in the background?

In wincmd.ini set in [Configuration] section
AlwaysUnpackInBackground=2
1: unzip in background
2: unzip+external unpackers in background
3: like 2, but run external unpackers minimized
