RC1: Cancel "CRC-Check" with strange message

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

RC1: Cancel "CRC-Check" with strange message

Post by *Peter »

Not a real bug, but a confusing message ..

I have a MD5-file and start the check with doubleclick. The check starts - fine.

Then I cancel the check - fine.

I get a message with a
- question mark
- Message: "Action canceled!"
- Buttons: "OK - Cancel"

What means "Cancel"? Cancel the canceled action? That seem to be impossible, because the message is not a question! Or cancel the dialogue?

Maybe the standard question would be better:

Code: Select all

"Do you really want to cancel: Yes / No"

[Edit]:
If I cancel a running check which will found no files it works different:

While preparing the check (with ".........................") the dialogue displays a "Cancel" button - using it I get a simple information with "OK".

While checking with all files red the dialogue displays a "Close" button - using it I get nothing - it closes immediatley.

[Edit 2]:
If the MD5-check does not FIND a file (which is defined in MD5 file), it displays "Can not OPEN file" in the detail-list, but in summary it displays "file not FOUND".

Bug or Feature?

Yes, you can indeed cancel the cancel! I know, it's a bit silly, but I added this at a time when I couldn't add a new string which would require translation by almost 40 translators!

Currently I'm not checking why the file open function failed - it may be because the file isn't there, or because the file is open in some other program, or because you don't have the rights to access it...
