7.55 rc2 crash under windows 2000 pro

Post by *mhanor »

I can reproduce it every time with a fresh install of TCMD. I wanted to add a new FTP server in the "Connect to ftp server" list (Ctrl+F), but it crashes when I click the "anonymous login" button (or by pressing Ctrl+A). The host is running Windows 2000 Pro SP4. I can't reproduce it on Windows XP.

@mhanor
Do you get the same kind of crash as mine here?

Hm, the reported crash cannot be reproduced here on Windows Server 2000 SP4 Rollup1
+ using either Total Commander 7.50a,
+ or using Total Commander 7.55a.

Sorry, Total Commander 7.55 RC2 is no longer available here. And soon Windows 2000 will not be, either.

@Karlchen it was resolved after RC2. Was:

And I'll prolly join the rest of the Windows tech-world and get a student-discount copy of Win7 --- I had made an oath many years back that I would never upgrade to WinXP ;) And Vista was such a dog (in the beginning at least) that I never considered that a viable alternative to Win2K ... :-)

Hello, Balderstrom.

Thanks for clearing this up.

I had never seen a confirmation stating "bug fixed" anywhere.
So I tried to reproduce the problem and tried to verify whether T.C. 7.55a might crash in the reported scenario. Yet, I did not have access to the exact T.C. version for which the crash had been reported.
Anyway, as long as the bug has been fixed, everything is fine. :)

Cheers,
Karl

So can I move this thread to "Fixed bugs" now?

Yeah - it's fixed. You noted in the other thread it was dialog creation related. I'm not having any consistent crashes (when TC is in the foreground) -- just the odd ones (couple a week at most) that don't make much sense: illegal memory accesses when Opera or an Editor is active.
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

Thanks!

Please report the odd ones too! I didn't get any crashes for weeks now myself, so in order to fix your bugs, I need to know when they happen, and why...
