[TC 11.01] AV in unpacking 7z archive

Post by *DDDX »

Hello,

When I tried to extract a folder from 7z archive, I got this AV:
> 7zip.wcx64!000000000e8d0dd1() Unknown
7zip.wcx64!000000000e8d14c2() Unknown
7zip.wcx64!000000000e8cf2f7() Unknown
7zip.wcx64!000000000e8c63ae() Unknown
7zip.wcx64!000000000e8be4bb() Unknown
7zip.wcx64!000000000e8bf02c() Unknown
7zip.wcx64!000000000e8a64bc() Unknown
7zip.wcx64!000000000e89235d() Unknown
kernel32.dll!00007ff8fdb17614() Unknown
ntdll.dll!00007ff8ff9426b1() Unknown
I can reproduce this error.

7z.exe (23.01 x64, 2023-06-20) can extract this folder without any problem.

So ??? Whats Chris supposed to do about the fact that u are using a bad, outdated and always faulty plugin?

Get rid of 7zip.wcx* and use Total7zip.

My friend, I have never looked at this settings within last 25 or 26 years :)

It was the first time, when I tried to restore some old files from backup through TC and was surprised with this problem.

Who is an author of 7zip.wcx? An why it was not removed during TC upgrade? :)

---
I changed the settings, and now TC is able to extract that folder. Thanks for your hint.

Does it also happen if you use TC's internal 7zip unpacker?

1. I renamed the folder "c:\Program Files\Total Commander\plugins\wcx\7zip-deleted"

2. Removed an entry from "Configure packer extension WCXs"

3. Checked "7Z" at "Zip packer" setting page.

Now it works fine.

Thanks.

Why would TC remove PLUGINS installed by YOU during an update of TC :?:

That option is only for packing ZIP files with 7zip, and only works if you also disable "Use internal ZIP packer" - so it is not for unpacking of 7z files
