As far as I know:

1. vlclister has never been released. There is mLister plugin (alpha-verion has been released to public), which was a base for vlclister, but it has known unfixed bugs. I uploaded it here (as far as I understand, it's the version 1.0.1.0).

2. I used to be a private beta tester of MPlayer wlx (Mplayer2Lister) plugin by Worros. Latest public version was 0.0.2.5, one of private versions I have is 0.0.5.0.
It was plugin's author decision to stop the development of a plugin and not to make a public release of any version newer than 0.0.2.5 because there still has been a number of bugs that author couldn't fix, some were serious, so plugin still was too unstable for every day use. Author then shared plugin's sources to some wincmd.ru forum user or users, but there is no information on whether it was a try to continue the development of a plugin by new author(s).

Unfortunately, for most of public and private versions of this plugin I have, but I don't know their version numbers. Currently, if anyone interested, I can upload v. 0.0.1.1 of mplayer wlx. Upd: v.0.0.2.5 has been released on February 23, 2009, I uploaded the distribution of a plugin from that date here (MD5: 6e470f0eac110cc2e75d65b67f817be7 / SHA1: c73740e575e3744bc2a3301b12c33e63ce7d89d4).

However, I don't recommend to use mLister or mplayer wlx: both products are too far from being stable enough for every day use.

I tried mLister, dsview, mediashow, mmedia ansy dl, mplayer4tc (2006, Delphi) and smviewer.
Unfortunately, they don't play all required formats, and hangs Total Commander - only remains to kill the process.
There was hope for MPlayer 0.0.2.5 (2009, C++) with optimized Mplayer.exe or vlcLister.
Thank you for clarifying the situation with vlcLister.
But I still would like to try MPlayer 0.0.Х.Х if you find it!

Upd: thanks for Mplayer23022009! Sadly, but it doesn't have any controls (play, stop, rewind) and again buggy on many test files...
In parallel I'm working on the AppLoader.wlx + some compact player.
I would be grateful if you can help or advise some other way.

Well, I gave up on idea to have a stable multi-format media player in Lister. Currently I mainly use either PotPlayer:

Code: Select all

TOTALCMD#BAR#DATA
"E:\Programs\Daum PotPlayer\PotPlayerMini.exe"
"%P%N" /add
E:\Programs\Daum PotPlayer\PotPlayerMini.exe
Add to &PotPlayerMini
E:\Programs\Daum PotPlayer\
0
-1
or Media Player Classic Home Cinema 1.3.1249.0 to view media files on my Vista laptop.

I tend to try AppLoader.wlx with FFPLAY.exe (ffmpeg dot zeranoe dot com).
I think this will allow a quick preview of all audio and video by ctrl+q in the left panel.
But I can not configure it...

Just use MPV.

Just set TC to external viewer and associate mpv to relevant filetypes.

Not sure it's a good idea to use such an old thing. It may be less troublesome to simply assign MPV as an external viewer for video file extensions at configuration > edit/view > external viewer > associations
