8.0ß 64-bit Inline rename edit box higher than in v7.56a

Post by *karlchen »

Hello, gora.

This has been reported before. Please, have a look at this thread and at the posted screenshots, too: [x64]Gap at Beginning of Filename Rename.

The thread is not only about a little gap in front of the filename, but also about the height of the edit box.

Kind regards,
Karl

Unfortunately I could not find any reason for this extra space in the Lazarus sources so far. TC itself isn't requesting it.

32bit version of tc is also affected, so i think it's not a problem in Lazarus.

I cannot confirm this. Here 8.0β4 32-bit has the same inplace rename box sizes as 7.56a had.

It's strange... Here is my screenshot (i've posted it on russian forum, so you probably seen it already):

Yes, I saw it, but here's what I have on my computer:

I noticed that on your screenshot version 8.0 also has increased height for tab headers, panel header, drive combobox. Do you have different options for 8.0 and 7.56a? If yes, please, try them with the same wincmd.ini.

Flint, good observation! I had a different font settings for Main window. TC calculates edit field's height from wrong font (main window). So, this bug is present in both 8 and 7.56 versions, or there is no bug if this behavior is intentional.

That's indeed an interesting observation! It's strange that a different font is used to measure the edit box then for displaying the text...

I have three versions TC with identical settings (same file wincmd.ini)
TC 8b4x86 and 7.56a have "normal" height of edit box.
TC 8b4x64 has "increased" height of edit box.

Though history.txt tells
13.10.11 Fixed: In place rename box had larger border, which was controlled by the main window font instead of the listbox font (32/64)
I still have larger rename boxes in 64-bit version than in 32-bit version.
