Very, very slow refresh net dir, win domain + vpn

Post by *MichaelVlasov »

I login to our Microsoft Windows domain based network through Kerio VPN.
And when I browse shared folders from other computers on domain, the file list refreshed very slow and in foreground (TC is Not Responding until refresh complete).

Windows Explorer and FAR refresh file list MUCH faster:
For example, net folder with 50 files refreshed for:
TC: 30 sec
IE: < 1 sec
FAR: 1.5 sec

All use brief list mode.

Hello MichaelVlasov,
What are your settings under Configuration - Options - Icons?

Roman
Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Thank you for suggestion.

initially i has this settings:
(*) All Associated + EXE/LNK
[ ] exe/lnk not on floppy
[ ] exe/lnk not on net

then i change settings to:
(*) All Associated + EXE/LNK
[V] exe/lnk not on floppy
[V] exe/lnk not on net

speed increased to 1.5 sec, thanks again

p.s. but folder, in which i test, does not contains exe/lnk, only subfolders and txt files.

p.p.s. and, i think, it is better to retreive slow information, e.g, icons, in background, and remove this checkboxes from settings.

You can try to use "process monitor" from www.sysinternals.com to find out what icon TC tries to load. Look for a 30 seconds gap in the log.
