Ich zitiere mal aus einem Kommentar im Fileforum-Betanews:
Regarding the large amount of beta releases, what a lot of people don't know because it hasn't been highly publicized is that the author is porting the program to a new programming language (at least for the x64 release).
To someone who hasn't been following this project closely, yeah, it probably looks like a ridiculous amount of betas so these remarks cannot be criticized too much, but it's just the author working out all the kinks in the porting process & making sure the x64 final release is going to be as solid as the x86 one.
Auf welche Programm-Sprache wird portiert?!

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Hi,

soviel ich weiß, von einem Pascal-Abkömmling zum anderen, nämlich von Delphi (2?) nach Lazarus.

Das Problem ist nicht unbedingt die neue Sprache, da gibt es nur wenige Probleme. Z.B. funktioniert bei Free Pascal die Funktion str() nicht richtig. Das grösste Problem ist der Umstieg auf eine neue Klassenbibliothek für die Fenster (Forms). Einerseits verwendet diese nun UTF-8 für Texte, und nicht mehr ANSI (bzw. mein selber aufgebohrtes UTF-16). Andererseits gibt es sehr viele Detailunterschiede, die ausgeglichen werden müssen.
