[8.0ß24] Cannot delete protected files from Sync Dirs dialog

Post by *umbra »

1. Navigate to a folder containing some protected files (e.g. something in Program Files)
2. Open a Synchronize dirs dialog and press "Compare"
3. Select any protected file and from its context menu select "Delete left" or "Delete right" (whatever makes sense)
4. Confirm the operation

The result of this is that nothing happens - the file is not deleted and is still present in the list, there is no UAC dialog and also no error.
This applies to TC8 beta 24 (x32 and x64) - TC7.57a works fine.

This is currently not supported, sorry. Maybe in a later release. I will add it to my wish list.

If I may ask, why have you dropped support for this feature in TC 8? Was it causing any issues in TC 7.57a?

I didn't drop support for it - I wasn't aware that it was ever supported, sorry. I'm re-using functions from the main TC also in the sync function, so it may have worked by accident. I will check why it worked and now no longer works.

If it helps, the last version that worked was beta 13.

OK, problem seems to be the new function to delete all files from a directory in one function call. This call returns "success" even if none of the files could be deleted. I will try to keep track of the deleted files. You can delete them directly by holding down "Shift" in the delete confirmation dialog. This will bypass recycle bin.

In rc1 it works again, thanks!

Oh, I finally get it - I have to hold Shift when I press OK in that dialog. That's a pretty well hidden feature. Originally I though that I had to press Shift in the context menu before clicking on one of those "Delete" options. But it didn't work so I just presumed the feature was not there.
