[8.0ß25-x64] MRT: Name field startup selection inconsistent

Post by *Flint »

Some Russian users noticed that when you open Multi-Rename Tool, the contents of the File Name field is now selected, now deselected. Below I'll try to describe all the found cases.

Case 1
In TC 64-bit MRT always starts with the File Name selected.

Case 2
1) In TC 32-bit MRT only starts with the File Name selected if TC was launched with clean INI (more exactly, with INI file containing no RenameX key in the current resolution section), and MRT was opened for the first time in this TC instance.
2) After the MRT is closed and RenameX is automatically written into INI, the next time MRT opens with the File Name not selected.
3) When TC 32-bit is restarted with INI already containing RenameX, MRT always opens with the File Name not selected.

Case 3 (not exactly selection, but probably close)
When you start TC 32-bit with non-empty INI containing the RenameX key and open MRT the first time, the cursor is blinking in the end of the File Name field. Close MRT and open it again: now cursor is in the beginning of the File Name (and will be there in all the subsequent MRTs, until you restart TC).

Does it really matter?

A user on the Russian forum complained about it, that he has to re-select the contents each time to replace the field contents by pressing a template button. He finds this inconvenient. I didn't do any public inquiry, of course, but when a user has to work with both TC 32- and 64-bit (because of missing 64-bit plugin, for example), he will have different behaviour, and it will irritate him that he cannot predict how TC works.

Currently TC doesn't explicitly select the text in these dialogs, so it must be caused by the order in which these edit boxes are filled with text...

Usually text becomes selected when control receives focus after changing its text (it is easy to check in any dialog). So, if text is changed after focusing a control, it won't be selected.

In 8.0rc1 both TC versions behave identically and always show the File Name field initlally selected. So, fixed.
