+[8.50pb1 x64] copy _ button hides main window only

Post by *Laszlo »

Simple F5 copy, and with the minimize button, only the main window hides, the copy window stays.

But only when clicking one/some of the drive buttons in the main window. So if I copying from C: left to D: right, and I click C on the right window (nothing happens, just blinks) and minimize on the copy window, the main window hides.

Hope I'm explaining this right.

Unfortunately I do not understand. You press F5 copy, then what? There is no minimize button in F5 copy dialog.

If you press ENTER or click OK to start the copying, there is a minimize button, and it minimizes both the dialog and Total Commander.

Please give me step by step instructions what I need to do.

Here it goes:

1, Start copy.
2, Click any/some of the drive buttons. (like c, d, etc)
3, Click on the minimize button on the copy window [this:_ ]
4, The copy window stays, but the total commander window hides.

But I cant seem to get this in beta 2, so maybe it was something with beta 1?

Sorry, I don't understand how you do step 2. The TC window is disabled when copying in the foreground, so you can't click on the drive buttons. Or do you use the Explorer copy method? It uses a standalone window which can be minimized separately. It should not affect the TC window at all.

No, no explorer copy method.

Yes, logically you cant click on these buttons, but I could. I dont know how! They didnt do anything, TC just blinked, but with this came the bug.

Thanks for the video - it looks that on your system, the main TC window isn't disabled, you can still activate it by clicking on it. Are you really using Windows 7 x64? I cannot reproduce it on Windows 7. Maybe it's caused by some 3rd party multiple desktop software...

Yes, Windows 7 x64, and no 3rd party desktop software. The only thing I use differently is the taskbar on the left side, not at the bottom.

If that helps, my wincmd.ini: http://pastebin.com/UjxX87Wd

I have same effect but the TC main window is disabled but reacts to mouse hovering on drive toolbar... No 3rd party SW installed.

OS: Win7 32bit, german

Confirmed on WinXP, but with drive dropdown list, not buttons.
Edit: confirmed ALSO with drive buttons, but it happens not every time. It seems to happen only if I previously minimize the window normally and restore it.
We are not so S.M.A.R.T. as we imagine...

I could now at least partially reproduce something: When I start the copying and minimize the copy dialog (together with TC), and then restore it, then the drive bar buttons react to mouse moves (but not to clicks!). But when I click on "Minimize" again, both TC and the copy dialog minimize together just fine.

Maybe you can give me more detailed instructions what exactly I need to press/click to reproduce it?

Looks like its not ini related, I can do the bug with a fresh ini. And yes, you have to minimize first, and the first attempt is minimizing everything, but the second attempt on the minimize button minimizes only the main window.

The drive buttons was a misleading from me, sorry, it has nothing to do with this at all!

So copy, minimize, restore, minimze = bug.

Exact instructions:

- start copy a big file or directory with f5
- click on minimize on TC copy window
- click on TC on Windows taskbar
- click on minimize again on TC copy window

Thats it.

Just tried that a dozen times with my current wincmd.ini and a fresh ini - no problems, TC and the dialog box minimized every time. :(
