list right and left history (of directories) backwards

Post by *ackuxacky »

Dear developers,

I'd like to suggest a feature to enhance the user experience. I searched the forum and I could not find any answer, so here you go:

Suggestion: List the folders in the history pull-down menus backward.

Current behavior: The list is listed from bottom (most recent) to top (oldest).

Subjective opinion: In my settings I use a lot of predefined tabs and usually, I just need to jump a few (1-3) paths backwards. When using the history menu, I mostly have to move the mouse to the end of the list to select the item. The same thing using the keyboard: alt&down then down-down-down-<15 times>-enter. That is a waste of keystrokes and mouse movement.

Thank you for listening!

EDIT: The note about the keystrokes is not relevant so much: I forgot the mouse movement <up>. I also use it, when I remember.

If at all then such change must be optional.
I guess for most users its better as it is now because they will more often want to go back only a few dirs in history.

If they "more often go back only a few dirs", then it means more mouse movement in the current settings (top=oldest, bottom=newest).

What a gem!

After searching the Internet for "total commander ReverseHistory", this came up, too:

Try Configuration Editor, run it and press F8, only hidden settings will listed.
