So why link to a non-existent ftp server now? The website for zlib is https://zlib.net/
I found a better page: https://infozip.sourceforge.net/
If you change the linkt to https://infozip.sourceforge.net/ then the link text should only be "Info-Zip". You had a link specifically to the zlib library and I retrieved the link to the zlib library from https://infozip.sourceforge.net/.

Built-in ZIP-compatible packer, supports long filenames! This packer is based on ZLIB by Info-Zip.
Please remove the phrase "supports long filenames!". Long filename support is now expected by default, and the current generation of users may be confused as to what you are talking about.

Is it? Or isn't it?
Why do you keep ignoring this question? Is it a hard question to answer?

I can confirm that the mentioned changes where made to featurel.htm, all languages.

What remains is:

external packer
Agreed.
You didn't add "external" after the word "recommended" in the line "32 bit command line ZIP-compatible packer, recommended packer for use with Total Commander" on the tools.htm page.

French is still missing.
I wonder whether German should be mentioned because the homepage is English only. Here is what the Mozilla foundation (Firefox) write about the header:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Content-Language
German is not removed from the line in index.htm:

Code: Select all

<meta name="Content-Language" content="en,de">

Android
I have stopped announcing new Android versions via what's new, because you get auto-updates via Play Store (or F-Droid).
But you kept the announcement of an outdated version on your main page, basically suggesting that that is the latest version.
You are still basically suggesting on your main page that Total Commander 3.23 for Android is the latest Android version.

And
the info seems outdated, or is the new libdeflate library also based on ZLIB by Info-Zip?
STILL not answered(((

And I still can’t figure out what the point is of indicating any relationship to this organization/library.
It would only make sense if some part of the code was based on their source code.
But there’s nothing that says that...

featurel.htm was changed. Are you referring to another webpage?

Sorry, looks like I didn't yet upload the changed pages after making this change.
German is not removed from the line in index.htm:
I still don't have a definitive answer whether it belongs there or not. Also there seem to be multiple variations of language tags, but <meta name="Content-Language" content="en"> doesn't seem to be one of them. Some seem to suggest <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en">, some seem to suggest to put this in the actual http headers somehow, etc. etc. I will not change it until I have a definitive solution.

Sorry, I don't know what to do there. Maybe just remove the announcement of any Android version...

Tested OK, except for the French page:
ftools.htm wrote:Compresseur 32 bit pour la ligne de commande, compresseur externerecommandé pour utiliser dans Total Commander.
I think "externerecommandé" should be "externe recommandé".

Indeed, <meta name="Content-Language" content="en"> seems to be an outdated method. And <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en"> is not recommended either. It seems that the correct way would indeed be to specify it using an entity header.

But I think you shouldn't use it at all (see here). I think you should instead utilize the html lang attribute for all webpages (see here). You probably used the meta tag in the past to indicate the document language to search engines or to browsers. But you only used it on the English main page. And specifying "en,de" means the page is intended for people who speak both English and German (see here).

Removal would be fine in my opinion.

Perhaps I don't understand it but, why not simply link to https://www.ghisler.com/androidapp.htm and update the text accordingly e.g. change 3.23 to 3.42.

Because the dated links that are listed a the top of the main page are links to the What's new page.

@white I see - then the text on the whatsnew.htm should of course be updated. Mixing "versions" is confusing and I would separate the two

Windows
* October 5, 2023: Total Commander 11.02 Release Candidate 1 (32+64 bit) for Windows available
* September 1, 2023: Total Commander 11.01 (32+64 bit) for Windows available
* October 13, 2019: Secure FTP client (FTP over SSL/TLS) broken by recent Windows update

Android
* May 31, 2023: Total Commander 3.42 final for Android released ; linking directly to androidapp.htm imho (and remove android entries from whatsnew.htm)
[* January 15, 2023: What's new in Total Commander 3.41 for Android released] ; perhaps keep it at one line

I wonder if this should be still listed:
And the linked page says:

Nouveau (7.50):
Tutoriel (site Web)
Tutoriel en Français pour la version 7.50.
Aussi disponible au téléchargement: Paquetage CHM

I think it is not new anymore and the link "Paquetage CHM" is a dead link.
