Directory hotlist auto reducing

Post by *Ak101 »

Hi,

I am using the latest version of TC 64. Since last few versions I am facing the funny issue of my Directory Hotlist automatically getting truncated with quite a few of my short cuts disappearing randomly.

Since I use hotlist very often, this is issue is driving me crazy.

I hope some one has a solution as this does not appear to be a bug (can't find it in the forum).

Hi,

As it seems, you do not have always write access to your wincmd.ini ?

Where is you wincmd.ini located? (Help > About)

Do you use TC with different users (or sometimes as elevated admin) ?

I have copied the the entire content of TC INI folder below:

d:\Prgm Data\TC\DEFAULT.BAR 1.6 k 05-07-11 11:52 -a--
d:\Prgm Data\TC\default.br2 119.0 k 10-07-11 21:33 -a--
d:\Prgm Data\TC\lsplugin.ini 133 b 26-09-09 18:02 -a--
d:\Prgm Data\TC\wcx_ftp.ini 135 b 22-03-14 16:15 -a--
d:\Prgm Data\TC\wcx_ftp backup.txt 135 b 16-04-12 21:04 -a--
d:\Prgm Data\TC\wincmd.ini 12.6 k 15-04-14 16:01 -a--
d:\Prgm Data\TC\wincmd bckup.txt 10.6 k 16-04-12 21:03 -a--
d:\Prgm Data\TC\wincmd bk 3329.txt 11.6 k 29-03-13 11:35 -a--

These files have always been there. There doesn't appear to be any reason why these files can become inaccessible to TC randomly.

However now that you mentioned, one possibility is that this location stores INI files for 32 bit version also (which I almost never use). May be just the installation of 32 bit version is causing this issue?

Maybe it's due to the hotkey of the menu item "Remove current directory" in the directory hotlist? When you are in a directory which is part of the directory hotlist and press Ctrl+D and the hotkey for remove, then the directory will be removed.

Thanks for the reply.

I will keep this in mind. However, I don't think I was pressing ctrl+D and R.

Btw, is there any way to remove the REMOVE hotkey?

Absolutely great program. Have been using it for ages. Even my 12 yr old kids love it.

Only when using an external language file. If you use English, you can get the editable files here:
http://ghisler.fileburst.com/languages/wcmd_eng.zip

Just remove the "&" character from string Nr. 1147. Then choose the second "English" entry from Configuration - Options - Language.

Got it. You were right.

One of my shortcuts starts from R. I was always wondering as to why it was often taking two presses of R to open that shortcut. Now I know why !!

Thanks.
