FTP problem - cannot create file, change name

Post by *jrbrown00 »

I am connected to an AIX machine using FTP. Now, when I try to view or edit my files, I get this message:

Cannot create file, change name.

The file name in the dialog box is this:

C:\Users\jbrown\AppData\Local\Temp\_tc\IFS

The last node is the name of the file I am trying to pull over and view from the FTP site. I have been unable to find this problem in the forum. If it is there, please point me to it.

"IFS" isn't a forbidden name. Either the remote name contains some (maybe invisible) forbidden characters, or a virus scanner prevented the creation of the file (e.g. because of a false positive).

The same thing happened to me today when I tried to download a file to my C: partition. I had NO problem, however, when I tried to download the file to my D: partition.
I am using Windows 7, Professional, 64-bit, service pack 1.

Did you tried to download directly to the "C:" (root-) folder?

Starting with Windows Vista the security concept/system protection of Windows doesn't allow the non elevated user to create a file inside the %SystemDrive% path.

"Creating files / write data" is a special permission "only for subfolders".

Thank you!!
I am NOT able to download to the "C:\" (root-) folder.
However, I am able to download to sub folders (sub directories).
