Is there a way to display a thumbnail front page view of pdf files?
I have my computer set to display thumbnails but the pdf files don't show up except as the pdf icon.

What do you mean?
Thumbnails in TC won't show despite they work in Explorer,
or they don't work in Explorer either?

Anyway, if you want them to show in TC independently from system settings,
there are two plugins that can do it (maybe also some other rarely published plugins I'm not aware of):

The old Sumatra PDF plugin
and
uLister.

The first one can work independently from sLister
by lowering the plugin priority (the order in the Lister-plugins list),
simply because sLister can't generate Thumbnails.
uLister also works, but you need quite some effort to set it up and it seems very(!) slow in Thumbnail generation.

Sumatra PDF based plugin 0.8.1 only works with 32-bit systems and I am using 64-bit.
