There are three (considering TC9) variants usage. In my opinion, let the user chooses what fits him best. In addition, as previously I said - it's not mine, originally made/remade only for myself, published only after changing the order of the icons.

May be two distibutions?

TC 8.52a and lower - WCICONEX with manual or automatic installation
TC 9 - wcmicons_flat_mod with automatic install

This works perfectly for the 32bit version of TC9rc4 - Thanks - But unfortunately in the 64bit version wcmicons.inc is still used no matter what

For me the main problem is, that the "Closed Folder" icon is taken from windows and that is really pale.
So I changed that icon in windows according to
sevenforums com + tutorials + 23878-open-folder-icon-change html
Please change the + to / as I am not allowed to post URLs and set a dot between sevenforums and com and between change and html.
Sorry, I prepared a detailled description, but as it is rejected as spam.
This procedure described in sevenformus changes the closed folder icon not only in Total Commander but also in Windows. That is fine too (for the rare cases I use windows explorer instead of TC) !

Is it possible to extract old panel icons from TC8 and use them in TC9? They were so much better than Windows Vista/7/8/10 default

Disable this option:

"Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Icons" -> "Show default folder/file icons from Explorer" - then you will almost have the good old TC 8 icons back.


You can also extract the icons from TC 8 to an .icl file with for example the ICLView plugin and then use:

IconLib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\totalcmd8.icl

in the [Configuration] part of your wincmd.ini file. You wil still have to disable the Explorer icons as described above.

Slightly updated flat_wcmicons_1.0.2_mod - added more icons with numbers for Custom Columns (now 29), redrawed some figures and in other icons with numbers figures are drawn the same way as in these.
