Thank you for the v9beta!
From help:
Uses the program "Everything" to search NTFS-formatted drives. The tool accesses the internal file index (Master File Table, MFT) of NTFS-formatted disks. Therefore it works without its own time-consuming creation of a search index. However, the MFT only contains file names. The search for other file attributes like the size, content plugin fields, or file contents are not accelerated.
But Everything saves also filesize etc.

Can we use portable Everything engine?
Possible it rationally make ini-key eg PathToEverything and run it automatically when active selection in Search dialogue.

LonerD,
There is an answer here. You just need to run Everything and TC will detect it. However if it is started as Administrator, TC must be started as Administrator too (therefore running Everything as a service with separate non-elevated GUI instance is better).

Re: everything search engine
This is a little OT here, but anyway: This isn't true, the MFT contains all the information about a file including size, timestamps and permissions and if the file is small enough, the MFT entry can even contain the file itself. Future versions of Everything will start reading the extended info, so it will be possible to accelerate more things.Terka wrote:From help:

I have had Everything's service installed for some time now and use it (through its GUI program) every now and then. That is, Everything's GUI runs without admin rights.
Total Commander (always running as not admin) does indeed complain if Everything's GUI is not running (visible window or minimized in the notification area). However, even when it does not complain (which means it actually detects it, I suppose) it does not use Everything's library.
I am on Windows 7 x64 English SP1 (all updates, except Win10 stuff), with the latest TC 9β1 32bit.
