Total Commander Version for CE Emulator (x86 CPU) ?

Post by *CeeGee »

Hello,
I'm using the CE Emulator to test/edit some stuff with an emulated SIMpad and I would really appreciate to be able to use Total Commander to move stuff around between emulator-host and emulated device.

But:

The normal Win32 version won't work: wrong OS, right CPU :-(
The normal PocketPC version won't work: right OS, wrong CPU :-(

Any help available or a link to an appropriate version ?

Thanks a bunch

I can create it for you, no problem. What target platform do you need, PocketPC or Windows CE dsevice (with keyboard)?

Sigh ... Good question ;-) I'm using a Siemens SIMPad (HPC2000) under WinCE 4.1 with a software keyboard (Pen driven) and the WinCE version of your great program Total Commander. Thanks for it on all platforms !

Well, this doesn't help me much, which version do you use on the real SIMPad?

Sorry for misunderstanding !

"Real world": Siemens SIMPad (HPC2000), CPU ARM, WinCE 4.1, german, Total Commander 1.21

"Virtual/Emulated world": Siemens SIMPad (HPC2000), CPU x86, WinCE 4.2, english

Was that answer any better ;-?

ciao

I guess that you need the Windows CE version then. I have also compiled a version for the PocketPC emulator, just in case. You can get the two versions here:

Total Commander/CE for Windows CE emulator

and

Total Commander/CE for PocketPC emulator

These are ZIP archives containing just the program, no language files.

Thank you for this version. But unfortunately I cannot run it on the same Pocket PC emulator (which is from Visual Studio 2003 package). I copied it into the folder \Program Files\totalcmd\ and tried to start but the OS returned an error:
cecmd.exe
Cannot find 'cecmd' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available.
Maybe, this emulator contains not full version of OS? If I look that cecmd.exe as usual EXE-file, I see that it requires 4 DLL-files, noone of them is present on my Pocket PC Emulator (commctrl.dll, coredll.dll, aygshell.dll and winsockm.dll). Can it be the source of the problem?

I copied over the language files from the real simpad installation.
Then I tried both versions, both do not work but the error message is different than his, I get in both cases:
cecmd.exe not a valid CE application
My emulator is running CE 4.2 not 4.1, is that an issue ?

Thanks anyway for your efforts !!!

Hmm, no idea - I'm using MS Embedded Visual C++ 3.0 with the emulators for PocketPC and for Handheld PC Pro. TC/CE works fine on both. Sorry, I really don't know why these DLLs are missing on your emulator.

HPC pro is Windows CE 2.11/2.12. I think that the binaries of this old SDK aren't compatible with the emulators of eVC 3.0 or 4.0.
Perhaps you can recompile this with eVC 4.0 ?
The x86em version uses Winsockm.dll. This DLL is not included in the newer emulators.

They are compatible, at least on the devices themselves, on which Total Commander/CE runs just fine. Probably the emulators only contain the dlls for the ce .net programs. Sorry, I don't have eVC 4.0 installed because it doesn't support the older platforms.
