[tc7b3] Percentage of deleting files > 100% (1643%)

Post by *PiR »

I deleted a lot of files on another computer, connected trough a \\computer\share\dir and the count of percentage of file delete grown up to 1643%. After it has reached 1000% only the last 3 digits where shown (i.e. 008% for 1008%) meanwhile the progress bar stopped to grow when it reached 100%.

I have two screen captures one with 998% and the other one with 609% (as a matter of fact 1609%). If you want them, please let me know, as I don't know how to send them.

This can happen when the number of files changes between the moment when TC counts them, and the moment when they are deleted.

I understand it can happen when files change. I however had the same bug with no files changing!

Working on a local harddrive, my deletion got to 200% at the end.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce this problem here. How many files (approx) did you try to delete?

:) Good evening,

• Isn't it a limit about the number of items that Windows is able to handle properly as one go via a LAN,
at least to display right progress-bars ?

94444 files
Ah, I see. I have just checked my code - I'm using 32-bit varibles for the number of files, so this should be no problem.

I have no idea why the percentage could become so large. Maybe some kind of recursive loop by following hard links or so...

Not fixed in RC 1. I just deleted ~117% of a selection. The selection contained 9460 files in various subdirectories.

I have not changed anything in the delete function yet because I couldn't reproduce this error so far. I have just deleted 70'000 files for testing purposes, but the progress bar only went up to 100%.

Was there anything special about the deleted directories? Did they contain hidden files, or files on the ignore list?

I see - that explains it. I will count these ignored files too!

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

If you wouldn't make so many suggestions which can be easily done with external tools or plugins, but limit them to really important things, then the chance would be higher that I could add them...
