Renaming file without changing the date

Is it possible to rename a file without changing the date?

Um, normally the file's date doesn't get changed when renaming it. If that happens on your system you have to figure out why it does, what is interfering with the renaming process. Often it's some (slow) anti-virus scanner or internet security software.
