TC 8.52a x32 issue using network virtual folders

Post by *CharlesF »

Looking for some help on an odd issue that has just started yesterday and continues today.

I used to be able to access my seldom used network shares using TC's virtual network folder feature. I can't seem to do this anymore even though I can still map the share to a drive letter using TC or Windows Explorer.

When I click on Folder->Network all I see is my system. (I'm using Peter M's extended menus and I can't remember how this feature invoked using the standard TC menu).

The problem persists after a restart. Nothing new has been installed in a while (including Windows updates which I apply manually).

I'm running TC elevated under Windows 7 x64.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Regards,
Charles

Does it work when you run TC as a normal, not elevated user?

Maybe you can access your share if you type the name or IP of the remote computer directly, regardless if it has been "discovered" and listed by Windows, like so:

cd \\computer

or

cd \\192.168.123.45\C$

You could add this command to the directory hotlist menu for quick access.

The problem seems to have fixed itself after I restarted all five systems. Very odd.

Incidentally, to answer your question, when it didn't work, it didn't work running TC elevated or not.

FYI:
That menu item is using TC's internal command: cm_OpenNetwork
