'Quick View Panel' doesn't work with 'Quick Search'

Post by *pkr67 »

When I am in Quick Search, Quick View Panel (Ctrl+Q) doesn't work...
If i am looking for some file, which name i do not know exactly, i start typing and when cursor is on "suspicious" file, i would like to view it by Ctrl+Q, to look if it is the searched file (i know its content). If not, i would like to continue with Quick Search.
I know, that there is way to press Ctrl+Q first (turn on the Quick View Panel) and then start QS, but I would appreciate the second way working too. Thanks!

You could use QuickSearch eXtended from here:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=22592

Then the steps would be
1) start typing
2) press ESC (to close search window)
3) press CTRL + Q

If this is not what you want
4) press CTRL + R (Reread source directory)
5) if you want to keep parts of the previous input, then press CTRL + SHIFT + S ... and ... start typing
Continue with step 2) above ...

Thanks for the answer, but I don't want to press ESC or do something else...
I just want CTRL+Q working regardless of being in QS window or not. It is simply change (i think), so I would appreciate it in TC 9. (Hey, Christian!)

Since F3 works when Quick Search is active I agree with pkr67 here: Ctrl+Q should work just like F3 does already.

The problem is that the plugin may grab the input focus from TC, which would automatically close the quick search dialog box.

But could it be enabled, when no plugin is used (e.g. for plain text file)? Thanks.

I can try to enable it for the beta test, and we will see if there are any major problems with plugins. One problem I found is that the caret (text cursor) disappears when a plugin displays one itself.
