I want to make a copy of a directory ‘dir1’, but I don’t want to copy ‘dir1\tmp’ with it. So in ‘Only files of this type’ of the Copy Dialog, I input ‘*.*|tmp\’. This way ‘dir1\tmp’ is not copied. This is what is expected. But it look like all sub folders with the name ‘tmp’, such as ‘dir1\a\tmp’, ‘dir1\a\b\tmp’, are not copied in this operation.
Is this the desired behavior?

Yes, it's an exclude list which allows to exclude files/folders by name. Total Commander cannot "know" in which subdir the file/folder is which you want to exclude.
