Hello,
I've spent a lot of time searching for a solution to this but have come up empty-handed. I'm quite surprised in a way as it seems like something logical and obvious. Maybe I just the solution somehow.
I used a dual-panel, dual-tree view. Sometimes I browse extensively in the panel using the folder up / folder down buttons or otherwise just by clicking on directories. In any case, this can potentially take me far away from the position I originally selected in the directory tree. With lots of files and directories, it can take a long time to find the position I am currently in the directory tree.
Is there a hotkey which can highlight the panel position in the directory tree? Or is there a way to keep the directory tree in sync while I browse using the panel?
Again, this seems like an obvious feature to me so maybe it exists and I just somehow overlooked it. If so, please accept my apologies in advance.

That is actually what TC is doing - do you perhaps mean to NOT keep tree and panel in sync?Or is there a way to keep the directory tree in sync while I browse using the panel?

Unfortunately, this is not the behaviour I observe. When I click around in the panel, the directory tree doesn't expand or contract or otherwise show me where I am. As you can imagine, if a click through several levels in the panel, I will very quickly lose sight of where I am in the tree.

Well, here the current dir in the separate tree is highlighted with red when I Double-click on the folder in the file panel, and if I double-click on a sub-folder in the file panel, then the parent folder is expanded in the tree in order to highlight the subfolder in the tree.
No contraction of expanded folders is done in th tree though, when going back up-dir in the file panel.
I cannot find any ini-setting that should change it like yoiu describe, but you should try starting TC with a clean wincmd.ini file to see if that changes the behaviour on your system.
