Is it possible to use functions from 'Everything' in total commander?
For example 'empty:' - find empty folders

Yes, if you prefix your search with "ev:".

So in your case it would be:

Code: Select all

ev:empty:
BUT:
Your post is wrong here.
We are in the "TC suggestions" board.

Thanks.
Where should I post questions? In 'Total Commander (English)' ?

It seems that

Code: Select all

ev:empty:
search always in the disk root, but not in the folder I choose.

I am not quite sure but I think it depends which drives you have defined in Everything under
Tools -> options -> Indexes -> NTFS -> Local NTFS volumes -> Include in database (ticked)
because drives/path in TC-search are not relevant in the case you start your search with parameter ev: in TC search-mask.

See also in Everything: Help -> Search Syntax -> ... Modifiers (path: ...)

I think your question should be moved to the forum: Total Commander (English)

Regards
Karl

Using ev: doesn't insert any TC paths so you have to use full Everything syntax.
For example: ev:c:\windows empty:

actually TC could insert the path itself, this would be nice. :)

the whole everything implementation works, but really is confusing.

TC could simply replace some TC variables like %P in the ev: string
but Christian doesn't want to do this.
For me there is no technical reason or problem to make this.

Thanks you all for answers.
Can I move this topic to another branch myself or need an admin?

yes. or why not (as i suggested before) simply make a radio button to enable "ev:" and if enabled grey out the "search in:"? this would be such a simple change but make it less confusing... but no luck yet.

Thanks to Christian for implementing the ed: search prefix :D

29.11.16 Added: Search function: Use prefix ed: instead of ev: for unfiltered Everything search in the location(s) given by "Search in" field. Also supports the "limit depth" option (32/64)

What is the advantage of ev: everything search in TC?
I do the search in Everything and click on the directory path to open the directory in Everything.

Thats only fine for single results but for more you will want to have feed to listbox in TC. That alone is enough as benefit.

Ok. Thanks. I checked Alt-F7: Very very fast search. :)
