Folder Tabs icons suggestion

Post by *Commander238 »

I installed the new version: TC 9.00a.
Now I have the icons on the Folder Tabs enabled.
I like that look. :-)
But when I have a tab set to "Locked, but directory change allowed",
the icon changes and sometimes disappears, whenever I change the folder.

I would appretiate two new settings:

• optional: if the custom folder icon is not defined, use the default basic folder icon on the tab
• optional: do not change the icon at all when the folder tab is locked and the directory is changed

The icon is not for the locked directory, but for the current directory shown on the tab. If you switch away from the tab, or return to the locked directory by clicking on the header, the icon will revert to the one of that locked directory.

Hi.
Yes, I understand the current behavior.

Let me explain, why I am suggesting this:

I have several tabs open.
I have many custom icons set.
When I go through subdirectories, the focused tab keeps changing its width a lot, sometimes the icon disappears, sometimes the icon shows again. The other tabs on the right keep jumping. I find the jumping irritating.
I would like the tabs to maintain their width.

Suggested solution 1:
If the open folder has no icon, show the default icon. This will keep the width.

Suggested solution 2:
Keep the icon locked if the tab is locked. The icon stands next to the locked name anyway, so it would make sense to me.

Suggested solution 3:
Set a fixed tab width for all tabs. This would cut the name sometimes.
The tabs in internet browsers behave like this.
