[9.0a x64] WC stalls when returning from RAR file

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[9.0a x64] WC stalls when returning from RAR file

Post by *eL_PuSHeR »

Hello guys.

I have noticed that if you run something big from inside a RAR file (and probably any other compressed format) TC takes a long time to respond after returning to it from that operation. It seems it may be having trouble deleting the %TEMP%\_tc contents or something.

Anyone?

I am using built-in Windows Defender. Hmm I may try disabling real-time protection for a while and testing that way.

PS - Nope. Disabling real-time protection made no difference at all. Still testing.

OK.
This is what I have found after doing some more testing.

RAR file 2.9x version. Fastest compression + password.

It stalls up to 2 minutes if ran from Total Commander.
Same file just run fine if opened/ran from inside WinRAR.

If using 7-ZIP with fastest lzma2 compression + password it works fine under Total Commander (no stalling).

So... Maybe a minor bug in the internal RAR decompressor?
